Foggy mountains by oboeteru Foggy mountains by oboeteru
Around 6 hours of work.
I'm proud of the fog effect, I like the contrast of light and dark elements. I'm quite glad also how the far background mountains came out... and I think it's the best drawing I've done so far.
From downsides - details. Would they add some interest to the picture? Or rather on opposite? Undecided + PLZ Could not decide on that, so it came out somehow half-half...

The reference picture here (not exactly a perfect copy, but 100% accuracy wasn't the goal here anyway).

A huge THANKS goes to the author of this video (How to Draw Clouds Sky). I have not used presented technique for the sky, but for the mountains and it worked out perfectly. I recommend it to all who're not certain in their drawing skill, but would like to get some cool results - it works! Just remember to add a lot of contrast (heavy black tops preferably done with some soft >3B pencil) and be super-careful while shading down, towards the base of the mountains (using cotton buds and cotton wool balls is good idea).

A few months ago I took part in online course of drawing (for those interested a website here. At the moment (22nd February 2017) the course is archived, but I believe it will be re-open in nearest future).
I'd never worked with pencil before, only digital media and with focus on cartoonish style, so you have a insight in, what I could call, baby-steps. Of course a loooong way to go for me, but IMO the course is giving great starting point and I recommend it to everyone that would like to improve their skills).
Here're other exercises for course:

Exercise one: An apple.
Exercise two: A landscape.
Exercise three (unfortunately quality of the scan is too poor to upload it).
Exercise four: A rat.
Final work: Squirrel.

Now I'm coming back on drawing track with a decision to spend an hour a day with pencil in my hand.
1. 22 Feb 2017: A rabbit.
2. 2 Mar 2017: A hornet.
3. 15 Mar 2017: Still life.
4. 22 Mar 2017: Scaled quail.
5. 23 Mar 2017: Tree - drawing exercise.
6. 24 Mar 2017: A tree - practice.
7. 25 Mar 2017: A tree practice II.
8. 6 Apr 2017: A turtle.
9. 26 Apr 2017: A house.
10. 1 May 2017: Foggy mountains (above).

Well done again.......maybe the mountains at the back would be a little lighter or with more highlighting?
Good fog effect in the valley.

Used the technique presented in this video (not sure if it has name).
Originally I wanted to draw just clouds (same as the author of the video), but then I got this idea of trying to use it for mist instead... and it worked well. :)
